RISK
Objective
The objective of Risk is to stay alive and to survive until tomorrow.
Strategy
The strategy is to make a profit whilst protecting capital. How much could you lose on this next trade? That question is more important than how much could you win. Think losses, not profits.
Rules
Trading CFD’s with 500:1 leverage is the nitroglycerin of day trading. If the equity is gone then you cannot trade until you replenish the trading account.
The rules to follow are the following:
- Trade only one target at a time. This ensures focus. Trading two targets, such as Gold and one of the Indexes, can also be acceptable.
- Do not trade three of more targets at the same time. Focus is gone. Without focus you’re lost.
- Do not have more than 10% of equity in the market.
- Do not hold losing positions overnight. A lot can happen during the Asian day. You do not deserve anything when asleep except, of course, a kick in the butt if holding a losing position overnight.
- You’ll break the rules. At least understand that you are currently breaking the rules and trading with a higher than preferable level of risk. Stubborness is not a desirable quality.
